Site Leader Overview
This is an incredible job for the right person. It will spoil you for pretty much anything that will come after it. For the wrong person however it will be a truly lousy experience. Therefore, both our job and yours is to explore your gifts, heart and abilities to see if there is a match between what lights your fires and what is needed to do this job with excellence.
It's a two-year assignment. The first year will have a huge learning curve and will be full of adventure and new experiences. The second year you'll come back somewhat of a veteran with plenty of opportunities to apply what you learned about leadership, your relationship with God, and about yourself from your first year. We need your second year to help train those who are coming into their first year. So unless you're able to commit for the full two years, you probably should not consider leaving us your application.
It’s a paid position. You do not have to raise support. Payment is as follows:
- Year #1...all expenses paid while on assignment, and $750 per month from September until the end of the following April (when the second year salary kicks in).
- Year #2...all expenses paid while on assignment, and $1000 per month from May 1st through to the end of the following April.
Also, because we want to take such good care of you that you would be crazy to go elsewhere, you will be on full health/insurance benefits (including dental) for the full two years.
Dates of the assignment are approximately as follows:
| Aug. 24 - Sept. 10 |
Staff Training |
| Sept. 10 - Dec. 10 |
First Semester |
| Dec. 10 - Jan. 10 |
One-Month Christmas Break |
| Jan. 11 - April 20 |
Second Term in either Guatemala or South Africa |
| April 21 - Aug. 24 |
Four-Month Summer Break |
| During your summer break, you will receive $1000 per month as a retainer and you can pretty much do whatever you want (lay low, relax, get a job to earn more money in order to pay off loans, etc.) as long as you take care of yourself in such a way as to be able to come back rested and ready to serve. There will be some minor responsibilities given to staff to make preparation for the following year. |
So as you can see, the job really consists of two blocks of about three and a half months each year with significant breaks in between. Part of your training is to help you take good care of yourself so that you can work from strength. The nature of the job is that you will be "spent" at the end of each semester, and you will look forward to those breaks.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with our website, learning as much as you can about who we are and what we’re about. This will give you a sense of whether Outtatown is a good match for you. God bless you as you consider this opportunity and we look forward to your response.
