Carolyn KolmCarolyn, also known as "Carolina" (said in a very strong Spanish accent) has traveled to many places but when not traveling around the world, she calls Winnipeg, Manitoba home.

As a child, Carolyn was very active and energetic, so her loving parents channelled that energy into playing a variety of sports. She played soccer, ringette, hockey, volleyball and basketball. Carolyn also enjoys being outdoors and seeing God in nature.  She loves hiking up mountains and relaxing at the summit while sharing God’s landscape with others. She enjoys canoeing with her friends to their favourite little island and camping there for days. Carolyn also enjoys taking artistic and random photographs using her old school film camera.

In 2006, Carolyn received her BA in International Development Studies at CMU. Before graduating she took a year off to volunteer with Mennonite Central Committee. She went to Bangladesh where she taught English and helped create annual reports for handicraft organizations. It was a life changing experience where she learned a lot about different cultures, religions and was exposed to extreme poverty and women’s inequality. But most importantly, she grew personally and spiritually with God.

This is Carolyn’s second year as Site Leader. She is excited for another fantastic year of adventure, learning and fun. She is eager to travel on a journey alongside students with similar interests and she knows it will be filled with many adventures and life changing experiences.

Chris SonesChris Sones was born and raised in Winnipeg. After completing one year of college he decided to take a year off to do the Outtatown Guatemala program. After this amazing year of travel and learning, he completed the Business Administration program at Red River College. Ever since he completed Outtatown two years ago, Chris has dreamed of being a site leader; now he is very excited to be able to realize that dream.

In his spare time he enjoys playing guitar and drums, having a good cup of coffee with some friends, or reading a good book. He also enjoys staying active by playing soccer, heading to the beach, snowboarding and just getting outside whenever he can. (However, being an extrovert, he sometimes ends up being lazy when his friends are lazy.)

Chris’s passions are travelling, learning about other cultures, and building community, which is why he is so excited to be returning to this program. After experiencing life in community as a student on the program, he is eager to walk and grow alongside students this upcoming year. Chris has been fortunate to have many people of good faith to invest in his life, and he is ready to pass that along.

Lindsay Kubassek Lindsay is ready for Outtatown to begin and is thrilled to have the opportunity to be apart of what God is doing in the lives of students, both in Canada and Guatemala!  After high school, Lindsay was a part of a similar life-changing discipleship year with a program called the YouthBuilders, and knows firsthand how altering this year can and will be for all those involved.

Prior to Outtatown, Lindsay grew up near Plattsville, Ontario, and has been involved in a variety of things focused on her love for serving others.   For the past 2 years, she has worked as a chiropractic exam specialist and for 5 years prior to that with a number of youth focused programs, camps and youth groups with the Evangelical Missionary Church while completing her Bachelor of Theology in Youth Ministry at Emmanuel Bible College. Lindsay has also spent time in the past 3 years volunteering with children in Bolivia, South America, learning that success really is not defined by a job title, but by the love that we give in the name of Jesus to a world that so desperately needs Him.

Lindsay loves reading, photography, playing the piano and singing her heart out.  She also enjoys traveling, camping, drinking tea, playing games, country music, and most every type of ice cream.

Lindsay is blessed with a fabulous family, friends, and home, and is ecstatic to become an Aunt for the first time this fall. She also is delighted that God has given her the privilege to follow her passion in aiding students in their life journey through the adventure of Outtatown.

Steve AllenSteve comes to Outtatown from across the river. He grew up in Winnipeg and although he has lived all over Canada, he still calls Winnipeg home. In 2003, Steve received his degree in Outdoor Recreation Leadership from Columbia Bible College. Since then he has worked at various camps and with Briercrest College's Outdoor Adventure Program. Steve enjoys spending time in the outdoors camping, no matter what the season and loves helping people get to know their Creator through exploring His creation. During the summer of 2008, Steve is spending time exploring Canada, it's people, culture and history through the David Thompson Brigade, paddling from Rocky Mountain House to Thunder Bay.

Steve is looking forward to his first year with Outtatown and the community, fellowship and challenges that will come along with it.
