Preparation
Whether your destination is Guatemala or South Africa, you are in for one of the most incredible years of your life. You will be challenged to step out of your comfort zone and you will grow in your relationship with God. We hope that you will ask your friends and family to pray that God will reveal himself to you and to protect you as you embark on this adventure.
As you prepare for Outtatown, there are a few other things that are also essential:
Passport*
An up to date passport that will not expire for 6 months after leaving Guatemala or South Africa is mandatory (www.ppt.gc.ca). Begin to process your passport during the summer when you have plenty of time to complete it. Once completed, it is essential that you send in a READABLE copy of the photo page that includes the passport number, expiry date and place of issue to the Outtatown office (we cannot allow any student on the program who has not provided us with this).
Insurance*
| First semester: |
All students who have additional insurance (ie. Blue Cross, SunLife, Manulife, etc) will need to provide the office with the policy name, policy number and phone number by August 1 |
| All Canadian students will have some coverage through their provincial health plans, and many students may have additional insurance through their parents employment (ie. Blue Cross). If you are not covered under your parents, then purchasing additional insurance is advisable but not required. |
| Second semester: |
All students must provide the office with their health insurance information, including policy name, policy number and phone number to use while in Guatemala or South Africa by September 10 |
All students must be covered for health insurance for the second semester. We will be providing you with one option, which can be purchased through our travel agent, but you can purchase health insurance on your own.
Flight Cancellation / Interruption Insurance as well as insurance coverage for lost baggage is advisable, but not required.
 Travel Health Requirements*
All health requirements should be completed during the summer. We recommend that you visit your local travel health doctor in order to receive guidance from them.
