These costs reflect the delivery of a very high quality program with the strong leadership and appropriate safety systems needed for a program of this nature. CMU will issue a tax receipt (T2202A Tuition and Education Amounts Certificate) to the student for the First and Second Semester tuition. Some scholarships are available, and this program does qualify for the Canada Student Loans program. Students may find that their Church or friendship circle is able to help donate the Missions & Service portion, however, charitable donation receipts for the mission & service portion must be directed through your local Church.
$15,700.
Okay, it looks like a lot of money. But remember, there are likely a good number of people who are willing to support you in this. Try to break it down as follows:
- How much money can you personally earn & put together between now and the beginning of September? (Remember you also have a full month at Christmas)
- Sit down with your family to find out if they think this is a good idea for you. Are they able to help you with a piece of this?
- Most church congregations help students who are going out on short-term mission trips. While this is much more than a mission trip, it involves a ton of service and our job is to bring you back ready to serve and lead in your home church. So, we encourage and allow students to raise 1/3 of their total... the mission portion of their Outtatown Discipleship School experience ($4,300 for full year South Africa program). We have already written out a letter for you to bring or send to people you think might want to help get you into this life changing school. For more information on raising support through your church, click here.
- Even your government thinks this is a good idea. The Outtatown program is a qualifying educational program and students may apply for funding from the Canada Student Loans Program. For more information, click here.
Finally just to make you a little lighter on your feet as you consider this significant life purchase, it might help you to know:
- This is approximately what you would pay for a year's stay at any college or university in Canada. (For US students it is a fraction of what you would pay & therefore a most amazing bargain!). Cost includes all your books, student fees, food, lodging, in-country travel, and some adventure activities. Travel to and from Winnipeg and overseas, vaccinations for overseas travel and personal items are extra. CMU raises an additional $2000 or so per student to complete the total actual costs of operating the Outtatown program.
- One semester in Canada, the second in an exciting international location. Both will be incredible experiences that will challenge you and help you grow in faith, character and understanding of God and His world.
- We trust that in 20 or 30 years from now you will still look back at this as one of the more significant and formational years of your life.
The bottom line? Check us out against anything else out there and you’ll discover that Outtatown gives huge value for your dollar.
